How do I apply for a vacancy?

A separate Northampton County application is required for each announced vacancy by 5 p.m. on the deadline date. Position title and department location must be written on each application. Resumes cannot substitute the Northampton County Employment Application.

Real Estate Technician I

 

Northampton County’s Commissioner of Revenue is accepting applications for a full-time Real Estate Technician I.

This position is responsible for maintaining real estate records for assessment purposes, administering real estate tax relief programs, assisting the public, and other related duties. Work is performed under regular supervision. This position will require periodic real estate assessment training and development.

Requires high school diploma or GED. The salary for this position is $30,000 or more, depending on experience, plus numerous benefits.

Director Information Technology

 

Northampton County is seeking applicants for the position of Director of Information Technology. A bachelor’s degree in closely related field is required with a minimum of ten years’ related experience. Responsibilities include supervising staff and overseeing the County’s Information Technology, maintaining the County’s computer hardware and software for both physical and virtual environments including VoIP systems, and providing network administration. This job also develops and implements network security strategies and acts as the technical lead during activation of the County’s Emergency Operations Center. The position comes with full County benefits and a salary range up to $122,942.00, negotiable depending on qualifications and experience.

Part Time Office Assistant Job Description


The Commonwealth’s attorney office is now hiring a Part-time Office Assistant, working up to 30 hours a week. The primary responsibilities include assisting the Office Administrator with file organization and data entry, providing clerical assistance as requested by the Commonwealth’s and Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorneys, serving as office receptionist, answering and directing telephone calls, and directing inquiries from the public, defense attorneys, law enforcement or the Courts.

Must possess knowledge of and abilities in general office procedures. Must maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. A criminal background check is required.

Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney



Salary/Salary Range: $71,469 or more, depending on experience, plus benefits

 Description of Job: Northampton County is seeking an Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney whose responsibilities will involve extensive trial work in all courts in the prosecution of felony, misdemeanor, and traffic cases, the performance of legal research, preparing and responding to motions, briefs and memorandum, and advisement of local law enforcement. The office encourages education and career development.

Special Requirements: Must be a collegial team player with solid legal skills and strong written and oral communication skills and, most importantly, a good sense of humor. Must also be dedicated to public service, committed to fighting crime and seeking justice and equally committed to fairness, compassion, and empathy. Must also be able to exercise tact, courtesy and discretion in frequent contact with crime victims, suspects, law enforcement and judicial officials, public officials, and the general public.

Criminal prosecution or defense experience is desired but not a requirement.

FULL- TIME COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER

 

Northampton County Sheriff’s Office is accepting applications for a full time Communications Officer. Job does require shift work, nights, weekends and some holidays.

Qualifications: over the age of 18 and have obtained high school diploma or GED. Full-time position is open to both certified and non-certified applicants however all part-time applicants are required to be certified prior to applying.

Building Inspector

 

Northampton County is accepting applications for a full-time Building Inspector. The essential function of this position is to perform building inspections. Provides customer service and clerical duties.

Requires high school diploma or GED, supplemented by one year of experience in building construction. Experience as a building inspector is desired.

Requires valid Virginia Driver’s License.

Excellent communication skills are essential. This salary range 43,355 to 69,416.

Building Inspector Job Description



Emergency Medical Service Provider
(Intermediate or Paramedic preferred)

Northampton County is accepting applications for Fulltime and Part-time EMS Providers of all levels (Intermediate or Paramedic preferred) in the Emergency Medical
Services Department.

This position salary pays up to $59,675 for Intermediate and $63,835 for Paramedic all based on qualifications.

Applicant must at a minimum possess the following: Commonwealth of Virginia- Department of Health Emergency Medical Technician certification, CPR, valid VA. Driver’s License with good driving record, Emergency Vehicle Operators Course, and Hazardous Materials Awareness. Criminal Background check, physical and drug screening are requirements with this position.
